Most of you know that I've been involved in the Breast Cancer 3-Day event for a long time. This year I will walk in my 10th event! Yes -- 10th!
Over the years I have not only walked but volunteered as much as possible because it's a cause that I so strongly believe is worth my time.
Did you know that this year I am actually working for the company that produces the Breast Cancer 3-Day events? That's right -- I am leading meetings to help participants get started on their journey. I am great fun since the only thing I like talking about more than the Breast Cancer 3-Day is my kids--I have even gotten them involved!
But the thing is that now I know so much more about the cause, I can quote both breast cancer statistics and beneficiary statistics. Want to hear my favorite?
Susan G Komen for the Cure has had a part of every major breast cancer research advance in the last 25 years. The five-year survival rate for a women with localized breast cancer in 1982 was 74% and in 2007 it was 98%.
I'll give you more statistics another day -- but just keep in mind that advances are being made all the time. And, to continue to make advances and get closer to a cure -- we must continue to raise money. It's worth our efforts.
This year the whole team will have access to the blog and I'm hoping we'll update from time to time and you'll check back and see what's going on with us!
Be well!

And so it begins!
So -- here I am again starting a blog for Janine the Queen's 3-Day Team.
Kind of a good news bad news situation -- we are walking again in the Breast Cancer 3-Day. The good part is that the team will be together again and we sure do love hanging out. The bad news would be that we are still walking to battle breast cancer.
The 2008 team of Laurie, Janine, Sandy, Maria and Mary are heading back to Tampa Bay in October and we are excited about walking in beautiful Florida again.
The team has grown and we are excited to welcome Janine-the Queen's gorgeous daughter Adrienne as well as Sandy the Queen Bee's husband Danny and daughter Savannah as part of the crew.
Of course we are always looking for more team members so if you are so moved give Laurie a ring and we'll get you on board!
